Utter embarassment.
8 hours of sleep over the past 2 days (and how I wish I could say that they were in 4 hour blocks) has given me not only the beginnings of a breakout and blurry eyes. It has also reduced me to talking about the WEATHER when I bumped into one of my favourite lecturers (incidentally, also one of the coolest) at the Lit Department. Argh I'll never live it down. Okay maybe I will. Gah going to bed. For at least 4 hours. And somebody shoot me if I ever say I'll miss the erratic electric guitar player and mahjong noises amidst paper writing after I leave hall.

Air-conditioning dumbwits
In our trip to Xi'an,we turned the aircon/heater to 25 degree celsius so that it'd keep us WARM in the bitterly cold wintry nights. Nobody turns the temperature UP to a freakin' 30 degree celsius in SINGAPORE you dumbwit. Especially not when you have about 5 laptops in the small block lounge generating all the heat you can get. I turn the aircon to 24 degrees and you exchange looks right in front of me and go switch it back to 30 degrees. Barely 5 minutes after I've done my deed. Without so much of telling me politely that you feel cold (then don't switch on the fan at the same time!) and you'd prefer it at a higher temperature! Then again, if you want 30 degree celsius, please go back to your room. All warmth is there waiting for you. Then again, you probably don't even belong to Eusoff Hall, let alone D block. Oooh I am so itching to switch on the TV to see whether they will send flying daggers my way. It's a TV lounge not a study lounge, though most people think otherwise. I am so irritated! So what, I have to leave my own block lounge because of a couple of non-hall people who somehow enjoy a warm stuffy lounge? Argh hall was never like this before! edit: Justin walked into the lounge and proclaimed "Very warm in here ay" and plopped down next to me on the sofa. Then he stood up to turn the aircon back to 24-25 degree Celsius. Guess what? Another one of them turned it back to 30 about half an hour later! Of course Justin tweaked it back! And while we were sitting on the sofa with a considerable distance between us (think one person's butt size, you'll see what I mean later), one of them very conveniently plopped his butt onto the space between our heads. Refer to the picture below (yes I actually ventured into Paint to do this): ![]() Grarh!!!!
:::: I want to join the Amazing Race! But how? Starting work, ish. In other news, DnD 06 was entertaining- mostly offstage :) Pictures later, cos they are in the boyfriend's computer. I overdosed on concealer and the result was a China doll wannabe in all pictures. Gah. But nonetheless, it was great being with the other year 4s, at our final DnD together :)

The last thing I need..
.. when I am rushing to catch up with my work .. when I am feeling miserable about the self in general .. when my income is as inconsistent as it is .. when I don't seem to matter anything to anything .. when I just want to wallow in self pity for just that brief moment is a 'friend' who has been waiting for me to graduate and is trying to lead me into buying some insurance policy from her over MSN.

One of my second cousins gave up his high-paying (RM60k/month - I think my mom must have heard wrongly) job as a lawyer recently to enter priesthood. Naturally, it took the family by shock, considering that most of the family were either Buddhist or Taoist. My mom was relating to me how she felt it was a *pity* cos he (and his parents) spent so much time and money investing into his law education and career, only to enter priesthood at the age of 40. My aunt went even further to speculate that he must have been gay (note: this cousin can be quite effeminate in his mannerisms) and must have gone through some internal struggle before embarking upon this route. I was like - woah hold on! I applaud his willingness to take up a calling from God - to give up all that he has in the world, to serve God wholeheartedly in His ministry. Whatever the family members are talking about now are prime examples of how man would potentially cripple a person's desire to obey God's calling. I tried to reason with my aunt - what has it got to do with his sexual orientation? It doesn't necessarily mean that he needed to be gay in order to come to the light and to realise that his inner peace was within priesthood! Just because he never had a girlfriend before, it did not mean that he'd be gay. On the other hand, I can see how some people may view the time and education spent on his career as a "waste", and there are many of them feeling sorry for his parents right now. Then again, it's his life to live and people will always be commenting on decisions which are made contrary to societal norms. His parents are lovely people and I believe that they are his strong support at this point of his life. Why can't people just mind their own business, for once? If you have nothing constructive to say, don't say anything at all.

During times as such..
I can't wait to leave hall behind me. I stepped into my favourite shower cubicle just now (2nd from the right, in case you were wondering), put my shower basket on the rack and turned to lock the door. But no, I didn't manage to do it you know why? Someone left a used menstrual pad on the door knob! So I go like, never mind, poor cleaning auntie on Monday morning, and I take up my basket and go into the cubicle on the right. And guess what? Another used menstrual pad on top of the water heater! You know what they say about girls who stay together would eventually develop somewhat similar menstrual cycles? I guess that holds true for the girls on my floor, whoever they are. Argh. And you ask me why I am fed up with communal living. I still love hall la. Still.

Scattered.
My brains, that is. I think it has been permanently overheated, at the rate the weather is going. It is a vicious cycle y'know. Hot weather ==>>more air-conditioner consumption ==>>increased level of CFC being released to the air ==>> bigger hole in the ozone layer ==>> and we get even higher temperature here! So that is why everyone should get one of those ice-spouting fans (what is the actual term of those thingies?) for their birthdays. Grarhghgaharhg. We Will All Go Together When We Go Tuesday's Cold War class left me: 1. sombre. 2. somewhat shaky inside. 3. slightly teary. 4. and a new resolution to re-think having children. I tell you this class just does things to your mind, makes you take off your rose tinted glasses and seriously rethink whatever you have thought. A section of the class that day was devoted to Tom Lehrer and Dr. Bishop played 3 of his songs, We Will All Go Together When We Go, So Long, Mom and Who's Next?. These songs were played on the piano with a very catchy, light rhythm, which makes it all the more eerie. Yup, eerie. We will all go together when we go and nobody will attend your funeral because basically everybody has gone with you. The same technology that has given us the Internet, the handphones, the computers, the iPods can also bury us all together. Whee.... At the same time, cliched as it may be, now may actually be the time to take time off for your loved ones, because of the obvious. I blame the greyness of my state on Tuesday's Cold War sentiments overload. Tinkerbelle Shoppe Yay, Sharon's shop officially opens tonight! Visit her at Change Alley (the overhead bridge connecting Hitachi Tower and Clifford Pier)! And others - Meeting Dr. Goh this morning was a good thing for me as I was completely (well, about 70%) directionless for my ISM. - I need to get myself together and negativity is not going to get me anywhere. - I want to go home to see my brother. Okay, and my parents too. But Ernie fell sick for 2 weeks! - And the weather is making me very grouchy. Please excuse my whinings, grumpiness and untidiness when you see me. Thank you very much. and anybody who knows of a good digicam repair shop in Singapore please let me know by calling/SMSing/emailing/leaving a comment/you know la. Urgent!!

:::: Allow me to bask in complete vanity and narcissism for a brief moment...
.. for this face recognition tool thingy says that I have a 67% resemblence to Song Hye Kyo, a Korean actress who is so pretty that if I were a man I'd go gaga over her. Like more than gaga. Others include: Choi Ji-Woo (who?) Son Ye Jin (again, who?) Lindsay Lohan (gasp!) Mai Kuraki(again x2, who?) Ayumi Hamasaki (gasp of all gasps!) Megawati Sukarnoputri (Does this mean this is what I'll look like when I am old?) Kim Hee Sun (Another Korean?) Hillary Duff (?!?!) and .... get this .. Stephen Chow (WAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA) The face profile thing is here. So don't say I look angmoh-fied anymore la. I look more Korean/Japanese ok? hehe.. edit 10:24pm My sister submitted this picture and I turned out to resemble (1) more men (2) Stephen Chow (3) and more angmohs. Cheh.

Because I have a screwed up body clock
.. I've ripped this off geekchic. Do you still talk to the person you had your first kiss with? Erm, a little la. What would you do with 1000 plastic spoons? Save it in Justin's little collection of disposable cutlery. You'd never know when you'd need a, uh, plastic spoon. Especially when you (read:we) eat all the time. Or to mix drinks. Or to whatever. Or I'll just make little jellies and make everyone use a new spoon. Bleugh. What kind of music did you listen to in elementary school? NKOTB, Debbie Gibson, Tommy Page, Mariah Carey, (was Take That around then?) amidst my parents' Bee Gees, Sam Hui and others ;) What is the best thing about your current job? As a student? Super fast internet connection, no curfew, all I need to do is to get my papers in on time ;) I wish it were REALLY that simple though :) As a tutor? My kids provide me with a break for my normal routined life and yes, my 10 year old kid renders me to speechlessness at times before I retire into my little abode for some hearty laughter ;) Do you wish cell phone etiquette was required? Yea. Together with MRT etiquette, if you please. Are you against same sex marriage? That's a hard one. I understand why but I am against the practice but I don't see myself stopping friends from it. How have you been in the past week? Lazy. Complete with 2 papers and 1 quiz. Where are you going on your next vacation? China and/or Hong Kong (again). Whee... Quote a song lyric One way, Jesus .. You're the only one that I could live for (dance prac tomorrow la) Are most of the friends in your life new or old? Both. Old friends feel like new sometimes and new friends feel like old friends at times :) Do you own any furniture from Ikea? A stool, and some misc items. Do you like your parents? Love 'em :) What state/country are you from? Interesting. I was born in KL, spent a large part of my childhood in Kota Kinabalu while traipsing in the KL/Subang/Puchong/Serdang area for sometime before settling down in Ipoh BEFORE I moved to Singapore 4 years ago. So, I am from Malaysia. Tell us about the last conversation you had? Erm, not too tell-able ;) Where do you see yourself in one month? Tearing my hair out over final term papers and gearing up for finals. What is your favorite smell? Justin knows one of them ;) What is the time and the outside temperature at the moment? 1:46am in the sweltering heat of the night (?!?!) Have you ever done anything vindictive to your co-workers? Never been vindictive in nature ;) Boring ay. Have you ever gone to therapy? Nopers. But like geekchic, I indulge in retail therapy. Just did yesterday woohoo. Have you ever played Spin the Bottle? Oh yeah. Have you ever Toilet Papered someone’s house? Well, does toilet-papering someone's door count? Or newspaper-ing someone's door? Have you ever liked someone but never told them? I guess. Have you ever gone camping? Yea .. which came complete with sandflies, water shortage, a night walk and sleeping under the stars :) Have you ever had a crush on your sisters friend? No way! Have you ever had sex on the beach? Nope. I imagine it to be extremely, uncomfortable. Have you ever had a stalker? Nope. Have you ever gone skinny dipping? In my mind yes ho ho ho. Have you ever laughed so hard you cried? Yes. Countless times. Have you ever gone to a party where you were the only sober one? Oh yeah haha.. Have you ever been cheated on? Shouldn't be *glares*. Have you ever had sex with one of your Myspace friends? Don't have a Myspace account to begin with ;) Have you ever felt betrayed by your bestfriend? I've had best friends at diff stages of my life and yes the feeling of betrayal and the act of betrayal has been done before. Have you ever lied to your parents? More than I'd like to admit. Have you ever thrown up from working out? Nope. Have you ever gotten a haircut so bad that you wore a hat for a month straight? Nopers. Have you ever eaten 3 meals from 3 different fast food places in 1 day? No way. I feel guilty enough THINKING about it. Have you ever gotten so wasted you didnt know what was going on? Well at least I got myself a shower and washed my hair before I, erm, opened my eyes and discovered daylight? Have you not realized what you had until you lost it? I ponder over things too much and make myself cherish things around me, sometimes a little too much but it's okay.
